I will be teaching Dr. Betty Edwards intensive 5-day drawing workshop at master printer/artist Dan Welden’s Studio-Gallery complex in Sag Harbor from Oct. 28 through Nov. 2. Tuition is $550 and includes the DRSB Workbook.
This is an intensive immersion full of demonstrations and studio exercises that packs a semester-long art course into five days! You will develop the perceptual skills you need to draw with confidence, whether you are a novice or want to expand your capabilities.
Students will explore:
A $200 deposit will secure your spot. Refundable up to 40 days prior to the workshop. Registration is limited to 15. Students that are staying at the Air BnB are asked to check in on Sunday, Oct. 28 between 1 and 4pm. There will be an orientation and ‘meet and greet’ for all students in the workshop space at 6pm. Workshop hours are Mon. through Thurs. 9am to 4:30pm. Friday is 8:45am to 1:00pm.
Right next door is a large house (Air BnB) w/6 bedrooms. This house will be available for our students, on a first-come first-serve basis. Rent will run from $75 to $135 a night. There will be a discount for couples. There is also an option for camping, if anybody wants to ‘rough’ it. Please email or call Nina (info below) for more information and booking.
Not only will students be working in a wonderful open gallery space, there are going to be yoga and tai chi classes (optional) in the upstairs “Barefoot” room, for after or even before class, depending on demand.
And there is a wood-fired Sauna!

Also, during this very week, Dan Welden is going to be teaching his famous Solar Printmaking Class at the print shop across the courtyard! Here’s some info on that and the contact person is Nina Souther, see above:
The class will be limited to only 6 participants. The intimacy of the group will be celebrated with each individual’s concern for doing a body of work especially with the idea of a “Weekend Workshop Exhibition” in the Dan Welden Studio/Gallery on the premises.
